Statistics - changes?

Dear Sir or Madam,

I'm contacting you regarding the statistics.

I'm having a look and it seems that there is a big drop of the views since November 2015.
We had 1000 - 2000 views for some videos and now we just few views (like 1, 2 or 5 views).
See the screenshot.

Something has changed for the tracking?
Any update of VZAAR in November 2015?
I would like to understand why there is a such difference.

    Hi Mathilde,

    First of all, I've set your email address to this ticket as requested, so all replies will go directly to you.

    As for changing stats, we certainly did! From December 2015 onwards, stats are measured differently to how they used to be.

    As for why your numbers are showing zero - I suspect the answer comes down to how you're using them. Could you possibly give me an example page on your site where your user can find one of these videos, so I can take a look?

    Btw, there is a way for me to see from the VZAAR platform *where *the
    videos are posted?
    I could find more websites.

    Hey Mathilde,

    One example is good, but the more the merrier.
    Unfortunately there is no way of seeing where your videos are embedded as there is no way to track every location where your iframes are placed.

    statistics was used to be calculated and the way they are calculated now.

    Hi Mathilde,

    To rewind for a moment, I believe I know what's happening here.

    Our newer stats rely on an event sent from the video player to our servers, so we don't rely on processing server logs anymore.

    This means that for very old versions of the player, we're not collecting stats under the new system - which is why I believe your numbers are so low.

    As for why your account is using an older version of the player, I'm not entirely sure to be honest. I suspect that, at the time of our large player update late last year, there was a change or bug that was causing you problems. Do you remember speaking to someone at vzaar at the time (October / November 2015)?

    I'd like to move you back onto the latest version of the video player - with up to date stats. What do you think?

    Ah, that explains it! I hadn't made the connection between this ticket and Marie's - thanks for the link.

    Essentially, when I said that:

    For now, you're all set to keep using the XML as you are, as long as you know that you're on a legacy player version as a result. This means you won't have access to new player features going forward.
    

    This is exactly what we're seeing here with the new stats system - which is based on new features in the player itself.

    Do you know if you're still using the playlist XML feeds as discussed in that previous ticket? If you still need them, switching to the newest player version isn't really an option.

    Hi Mathilde,

    If you like, it's possible to switch back to the old stats system for now, so you're at least getting some comparative numbers. You can do so by clicking the information button at the top right of your analytics page and following the prompts there.

    However, we aren't planning to keep the old system online indefinitely. From 2017 onwards, you'll need to be using the up to date version of the player if you want to get the benefits of our stats. I suspect that's something you'll want to discuss internally, but we're here to help with any more questions you have.
