Video Management

The video management system is designed to make managing large video collections simple and effective. It allows you to create categories for your videos, which behave a lot like folders. Allowing you to organize your account’s video collection in a similar manner to the file system on your computer.

You can access it here or by clicking the link in your account's navigation bar.

In the video management system your content is arranged into categories. Categories can also include sub-categories, allowing you to get nice and specific about the type of content you’re looking at. For instance, you’ll see here that the animals category includes birds, fish, mammals, and reptiles...

Then, if you want to get really clever, sub-categories can have their own sub-categories...

A few FAQs

How many subcategories can a category or subcategory contain?

Any type of category can contain any number of subcategories.

How many of layers subcategories can a category contain?

At present each category can contain two layers of subcategories. For instance, “Animals” could contain the subcategory “Mammals”, which in turn could contain the subcategory “Cats”.

What happens if I remove a video from all its categories? Where will I find the video?

The video will still appear in both the “all videos” and “uncategorized” lists. Removing a video from its categories will never delete the video.

What happens if I delete a category? Will the videos it contains be deleted

All the videos in deleted categories will simply be uncategorized. If a video is present in more than one category, it will only be removed from the deleted category. No video will ever be deleted as a result of deleting categories.

Can I create playlists based on a video’s category?

Not at present. However, this may be functionality we consider in future, if we find a lot of users need it. At present playlists can be created using the label’s mechanism, which you’ll find on every video’s individual page. You can read more about that here.
